Join us for Still Rockin’: A Night of Music to Support Programming and Resources for Older Adults

Join us in celebrating #HealthcareEnvironmentalServicesWeek, September 12-18, 2021.

This week, we are celebrating National Healthcare Environmental Services Week. Our Environmental Services team works around the clock to make sure CMSS delivers the highest standards of cleanliness and residents safety. On behalf of our leadership team, we want to take this week to recognize, appreciate and celebrate our devoted team members. Thank you for making sure our facilities are safe for residents, families and guests, staff, community and associates.

For Healthcare Environmental Services week, we interviewed two special team members, Bob Nemecek and Son Nguyen from our Environmental & Maintenance Services division.

How long have you worked at CMSS?

Son: I have worked at CMSS since November 14, 1991.

Bob: In 1992, I started as a contractor for CMSS and became a full time employee in 1998.

What is your favorite part of your job?

Son: I am happiest when I am able to work alongside my colleagues to make sure our residents are happy and safe. I come to work to do my best and not go home until they are satisfied.

Bob: My favorite part is helping our residents fix things, decorate and ultimately making sure they feel at home. If not for the residents, we would not have a job!

What do you enjoy doing in your leisure time?

Son: One of my favorite hobbies is fishing in Lake Michigan for King Salmon. I have mastered different ways to catch different species of fish. Sometimes it’s by boat and other times from the pier.

Bob: In my spare time, I enjoy going to Spooner, Wisconsin to fish. It is one of my favorite places to be. My parents took me there as a kid and I have been going every year since. Now I have the great pleasure to carry on this tradition with my grandchildren.

Final remarks:

Bob: We have a great working relationship but it’s more like a brotherhood. It is a gift that keeps on giving. After almost three decades, we can call each other anytime. It is a comforting feeling to know that someone always has your back.

In closing, I would like to convey my sincere gratitude and thanks to the past CEO, Larry Loecker and our current CEO and President Bill Lowe.

Below is a poem written by Bob Nemecek about his time working with Son Nguyen at CMSS.

Son and I have worked right here
For many many years
We’ve had good times and shred some laughs.
But we also shed some tears.

We’ve lost some special people,
As the years have drifted by.
Too many of our dearest friends
Gone before their time

But life goes on at Wesley Place
We’re keeping the traditions.
To enhance the lives of the residents
And be true to our sacred mission.
