CARES Memory Care Training for Families

CMSS provides exceptional memory care, informed by skills and approaches developed through extensive training by the care team. Our goal is to increase the quality of life of residents and clients with memory loss by creating a culture of memory care across every part of our organization. All CMSS staff complete intensive online memory care trainings and team members working with residents and clients living with dementia engage in other multifaceted learning opportunities including 5-minute on-the-floor training before every shift, immersive virtual reality sessions, and ongoing leadership development.

One of our key learning tools is CARES®, a nationally recognized, award-winning program developed by Health Care Interactive in conjunction with the Alzheimer’s Association. CARES® is an evidence-based program, developed with input from over 30 professional organizations and used in care communities across the country.  Every CMSS team member – including nurses, aides, leadership, maintenance, and housekeeping staff – is required to complete the four-hour CARES® training. To date, more than 130 CMSS staff members have completed the program.

CMSS is thrilled to offer our community complimentary access to CARES® Dementia Training for families in 2023. This program will help you reduce stress and feel confident in caring for your loved one. It is rich with activities, resources, and videos of real experts, families, and people living with dementia.
