Taste of CMSS: A Culinary Celebration

“Food brings people together on many different levels. It’s nourishment of the soul and body; it’s truly love.”

– Giada De Laurentiis

Last week, the CMSS Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee hosted Taste of CMSS–a culinary celebration and reflection of the diversity at CMSS. All employees within the organization were encouraged to enjoy the festivities, participate in games and fellowship, and bring a dish to share that celebrates their cultural background, if desired.

Taste of CMSS was a highly anticipated annual event before the COVID-19 pandemic, and we are thrilled to be able to bring back such a popular celebration to Wesley Place, Hartwell Place, Winwood Apartments, and West Suburban Senior Services.

The celebration – four days and three campuses – saw delicious dishes served to members across the CMSS community. The festivities at different sites included bingo, raffles, and other games and activities. Feedback from staff and community members showed an overwhelmingly positive reception to the events, from folks who had the opportunity to participate in past Taste of CMSS events and from those who participated in the festivities for the first time.

Two of our locations held a competition for the best dish. For the Wesley Place competition, the winners were Denise Broome (1st), Grace Baddoo (2nd), and Safia Sultana (3rd). Moulikatou Koba was declared the winner for Hartwell Place.
