Nancy (73) and Addie (22) have been matched in the Senior Connections program for more than a year.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, Nancy moved from shared housing into an apartment where she lived alone. She saw a flyer for Senior Connections and was excited about the opportunity to get involved. Addie is Nancy’s third match. Nancy says, “Addie and I have quite a few common interests, and she has helped me learn some new technology, which has been fun. She is so bright, she has really enriched my appreciation for her generation and has restored my faith in the future. She is always ready to learn and help.”
Addie, who studied at Loyola University, found Senior Connections through the school’s volunteer website. She was always close with her grandparents and was hoping to forge a new connection with a senior in the program. Addie most enjoys when she and Nancy walk by the lake. To people who are thinking about joining Senior Connections, Addie says, “Definitely do it! You never know who you’ll meet and how special that person will become to you.”
