Multi-Program Participation Series: Bruce Myers

Bruce Myers, LGBT+ Program Participant & Senior Center Participant

CMSS offers an array of programs and services to older adults and their families. We are proud to say that some people connect with us through two or more of the programs we offer. In this “Multi-Program Participation” series, we highlight individuals who we have supported across multiple CMSS services.

Bruce first found out about the LGBT+ Program at the West Suburban Senior Center when his husband joined. After his husband passed, Bruce was seeking more community and connection and started attending the LGBT+ Program meetings himself. Now he attends twice a week, on Mondays for craft club (where he does origami) and Fridays for weekly group meetings.

Bruce also participates in Senior Center activities like lunch and Bingo. He attends special events, trivia nights, and holiday celebrations.

Bruce says, “This community brings a lot to my life. It gets me out of the house. Here I have people to talk to , and I really enjoy the company. I feel cared about. It’s a warm and welcoming community.”
