Meet Hallie (84) and Leigh (59) who have been matched in the Senior Connections program for a year and a half.
Leigh has spent a lot of time connecting with older adults. She enjoyed visiting her grandmother in assisted living, and previously she was a visitor in a program for homebound older adults through Resurrection Medical Center. Leigh was happy to be matched with Hallie to continue creating meaningful memories with seniors. Together, Leigh and Hallie enjoy talking and sharing stories. Leigh loves hearing about Hallie’s childhood growing up on a farm, gardening, and preparing fresh food. Leigh says, “It has been nice to meet someone from a different background and generation. I appreciate our similarities and differences, and I value the experience of getting to connect with someone I otherwise would not have met.”
When Hallie learned about the Senior Connections program at CMSS, she was eager for the opportunity to talk to someone about anything and everything and, in the process, learn something. She says, “This program has a lot of substance and is a great opportunity to meet new people. You have someone to talk to, and they listen – they really listen.” Hallie encourages those interested in the program to join. She has enjoyed her time with Leigh and appreciates the smiles and laughter they share.
