May 6 – 12 is National Nurses Week, a time to celebrate and recognize the invaluable contributions of nurses and to highlight the dedication they bring to their communities each day. The Hartwell Place team is lucky to have an amazing group of nine dedicated, compassionate, and knowledgeable nurses who provide experienced and personalized care to residents. Thanks to Sam, Thea, Noel, Marve, Cecil, Lucy, Rose, Hervin, and Jilian for all you do!
Rose
Rose Aco has been with the Hartwell Place team for eight years. She was originally drawn to nursing because she sees it as her duty to help the most vulnerable people in her community. Rose says that she enjoys working with older adults and helping them age with dignity and joy. She says, “It’s important to understand each resident’s background and their specific care plan. When people are living with memory loss, you have to imagine the significant changes they are going through. Hartwell Place residents have led full lives, they have loving families, they worked as professors, nurses, teachers, and more, and everyone deserves to age with dignity, even when their cognition changes.”
Thea
Thea Leano joined the Hartwell Place community nearly a year ago. She has focused her nursing career on a variety of patient ages. She even began her career with a focus on pediatrics. Thea says that being a nurse has been an incredibly rewarding profession. “I enjoy helping others and making a positive difference in their lives. As a nurse, I focus on how I make people feel. Are the people in my care comfortable? How can I help them be calm? What can I do to cheer them up? That’s what really matters, how we make people feel and working to make people feel as well as they possibly can.”
