Chicago Methodist Senior Services is proud to have been able to voice our support for the LGBTQ community in a recent TribLocal article, “Thriving as an Older LGBTQ Adult in Chicago.”
LGBTQ people of all ages are faced with daily challenges, but the intersection of these challenges with those of aging can compound for older adults. Medical establishments and care communities have not always been kind to older members of the LGBTQ community, but today, Chicago provides a true mix of advocacy, social and health organizations.
Thankfully, a strong network of resources, including those offered by CMSS, has developed to support aging members of the LGBTQ community. We believe that Chicago is home to some of the best resources for older LGBTQ people in the Midwest, and we continue to work hard to make sure it stays that way.
