Gen Silent Screening and Panel Discussion

Join Chicago Methodist Senior Services at a hybrid event of the film viewing of Gen Silent, followed by a panel discussion. In honor of Pride Month, CMSS will be screening the film and facilitating a panel discussion about LGBT+ older adults accessing the long-term health care system.

The panel will be moderated by Eric Eugenio-Vironet (LCSW), the Executive Director of the West Suburban Senior Services.
Eric Eugenio-Vironet is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 10 years of experience working in the field of aging, with a focus on LGBT+ aging. Eric is a member of the Academy of Certified Social Workers (ACSW) and is a Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP). He is the executive director of West Suburban Senior Services in Bellwood, IL, where he was instrumental in creating a SAGE (Services and Advocacy for GLBT Elders) affiliate, only the second such affiliate in the state of Illinois. An Indiana native, Eric has lived in Illinois with his husband for 14 years.

 

Our esteemed panelists are:

Britta Larson, MNA, LNHA – Senior Services Director – Center on Halsted
Britta Larson is the Senior Services Director at Center on Halsted, the Midwest’s most comprehensive community center for the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ) community.  She is responsible for overseeing the older adult programs at the Center on Halsted and the provision of case management services provided to the residents of Town Hall Apartments, Chicago’s first LGBT-friendly senior housing.  Prior to coming to Center on Halsted Britta worked at a senior living community in the areas of social services and marketing.  She is a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator and holds a Master’s degree in Nonprofit Management from North Park University. 

Katie Fasullo, DNP, RN, GERO-BC – Director of Population Health and Health Equity – CMSS
Dr. Katie Fasullo is a board-certified gerontological nurse and has over 12 years of experience throughout the healthcare continuum as a nurse leader and clinician. She obtained her Doctor of Nursing Practice in Advanced Public Health Nursing from Rush University and has been recognized for her work in exploring best practices in the care of LGBT older adults in long-term care settings through her publication, “LGBTQ Older Adults in Long-Term Care Settings: An Integrative Review to Inform Best Practices.” Dr. Fasullo now serves as the Corporate Director of Population Health and Health Equity at Chicago Methodist Senior Services where she continues this work by ensuring that older adults age in a system that recognizes their whole selves. She is passionate about creating an environment for older adults where inclusion and support of LGBT individuals is the gold standard.

David Gore, One LGBT+ Older Adult, Founding Member of SAGE at WSSS
David Alan Gore is a founding member of the SAGE program at West Suburban Senior Services, where he has served as a discussion group moderator and been an active participant in the crafting group, monthly movie afternoon, and various outreach and educational events, including as a storyteller in the GOLD program. David served as President of the West Suburban Senior Services Board of Directors for several years and played an important role in WSSS becoming a part of the Chicago Methodist Senior Services family.  David retired after 28 years as a teacher of mathematics at Oak Park & River Forest High School and lives in Oak Park, where he enjoys gardening, crocheting, collecting antiques, and creating and maintaining community with his network of friends and chosen family. David has traveled widely and has been on all seven continents of the earth.
