The history of Hartwell

Serving the neighborhood since 1898, Chicago Methodist Senior Services established Hartwell Place in 2000, an intimate and vintage community of 29 studio apartments, nestled in the heart of Andersonville, for older adults living with memory loss. This charming building, with original stained-glass windows on the ground floor, was once the convent for St. Gregory’s Church, located just northeast of Hartwell Place.
