The 2010 Alzheimer's Association Chicago Memory Walk will be
held on September 11th this year and CMSS has been gearing up for
it. Proceeds from the walk will help support programs and research
for the Alzheimer's Association Illinois Chapter including: support
groups, community and professional education programs, 24/7
Helpline, Medic Alert, and Alzheimer's Association Safe Return.
Instead of beginning at Montrose Harbor as in years past, The
2010 walk will be covering a more scenic route beginning at Lincoln
Park Fields. I believe this path, which goes by the lake and the
zoo, will be both more relaxing and entertaining. I encourage
everyone to walk if they can. The Chicago Memory Walk is a 3.2 mile
loop and will end where it begins. Registration for the walk starts
at 8am and the first steps will start at 10am.
There will be an array of entertainment at the Chicago Memory
Walk, including live music, refreshments, face painting, kid's
corner, the Chicago Wolves Mascot, and Sponsor expo. The path is
stroller and wheel chair accessible. The Memory Walk is a family
friendly celebration of the people whose lives have beenaffected by
Alzheimer's disease.
Last year, CMSS raised over $5,000 and had 20 people, along with
a few dogs, make the trek. As an organization with a specific focus
on memory care, we are looking forward to supporting this fantastic
cause once again. If you'd like join our team by walking or making
a donation, please call Erica Wyatt at 773-769-5500. For more
details on the event, visit the Alzheimer's Association
website:www.alz.org/memorywalk.
We are on the move to end Alzheimer's. We hope to see you
there!
