Have you or a loved one experienced heart complications? At Chicago Methodist Senior Services’ HeartBeats program, we make it our mission to help people recover from heart attacks and other cardiac events, and live better with conditions like heart failure. If you’re unfamiliar with cardiac rehabilitation, let’s take a look at how it could help you.

How does it work?

Cardiac rehabilitation can help people with heart conditions get back on their feet through extensive monitoring, medical check-ins, and modification of exercise and diet habits. This generally starts with an initial evaluation stage, followed by a personalized program consisting of exercises and guidance on remaining health-conscious during recovery. No matter the heart condition, a personalized cardiac rehabilitation plan can greatly reduce the risks of recurring problems.

Unfortunately, many people are unaware of the benefits they could receive through a rehabilitation program and don’t ask their doctors about it. But you can ask your doctor for a referral if you are living with heart failure or have experienced a cardiac event. For the sake of your health and well-being, you should educate yourself about cardiac rehabilitation programs in your area and talk to your doctor about your options.

Our HeartBeats program

At Chicago Methodist Senior Services, we believe cardiac rehabilitation should be an empowering experience, where individuals can work with doctors and nurses to improve their own health outcomes. The HeartBeats program is our newest offering at Wesley Place, where we also have specialties in stroke and orthopedic rehabilitation.

If you participate in HeartBeats, you’ll be under the care of our cardiologist, Dr. Sanjay S. Gill, a cardiovascular disease specialist with over a decade of experience. You will also enjoy a private suite and access to a range of daily programming in Wesley Place, located in the heart of Andersonville. While many people think of “rehab” as a daily or weekly appointment to regain strength, we know that this holistic experience can better meet your personal dietary and physical needs.

During your time at Wesley Place, you’ll learn how to manage your medications and dietary needs. We’ll also help you and your family better understand possible treatments so you can go into future medical appointments with the right questions. At the end of your time at Wesley Place, you’ll leave with the tools you need to continue a heart-healthy lifestyle, minimizing your risk of future heart problems.

If you think HeartBeats sounds like the right cardiac rehabilitation for you or someone you love, please contact us today.
